Blades BU10 Held in Season Opener

The FC Blades BU10 team started their Fall 2009 campaign in the Silver South division of the Coast Soccer League last Saturday. Their opening game was against the Pateadores White team, and ended in an exciting 3-3 finish. The Blades team went ahead three times, but the Pats team came back and equalized every time. The Blades had to be content with one point from the game.

Early in the first half, David Medow put a through ball to Jimmy Knights on top of the Pats penalty area. Knights put the Blades ahead with a nicely placed kick to the top of the net. As the Blades pressed on looking to increase the margin, a counterattack by the Pats from the left flank found Oscar Lopez Jr on his own on top of the Blades penalty box, who placed it nicely to the corner of the Blades net for the equalizer. The teams went for half time tied at 1-1.

After the breather the Blades came back strong. Tommaso Covino was a workhorse in the midfield, covering a huge territory. Zachary Howard and Maisam Latif played a steady defense with keeper Rohit Dutta backing them up from behind. Givanni Ferber and Carlos Larios kept troubling the Pats defense with their runs down the flanks. It was Covino’s cross from the right wing that found an unmarked Ray Goren in the Pats penalty area. Goren kept his cool and put the Blades ahead again. The Pats equalized from a Kelvin Cabrera shot from a counter attack. The Blades pressed on and Christopher Victoria picked up a throughball from Covino, made a nice turn and run and found the top end of the Pats net to put the Blades ahead again. Just when it appeared that the Blades will walk away with a close game, the Pats came back with a quick counter-attack from the right flank and Oscar Lopez Jr scored his second goal of the game from the cross that came in.

1st Place at the South Coast Bayern Cup!

The FC Blades BU10 are the 2009 West Coast Futbol Classic Champions!

After narrowly missing out in the Whittier Soccerfest and the Fullerton Rangers Classic, the talented group of Blades boys, now playing in U10, got back into their winning spree with a tournament win at the West Coast Futbol Classic during the weekend of 8/15-8/16.

The Blades team was pitted in a five team bracket in the flight 2 of the tournament. They had a fairly easy run in the first three games, winning 6-2, 8-1 and 9-1 against West Coast FC, Arsenal and PVSC Exiles respectively. The last game of the tournament was against Rea So Cal, who also had won all three of their games, and was only one point behind the Blades in goal difference. Blades BU10 Finish Second in the Whittier Soccerfest

The Blades BU9 team continued their great run and won NINE consecutive games since the Spring Cup until they ran into America United SC Blue in the final of the Whittier Soccerfest last weekend, losing 2-3 in a hard fought game. It was an exciting game with even exchanges, and the result could have gone either way. Read More

Blades B99 Win Spring Cup

The Blades BU9 team took their time in settling down during the spring season. Their Spring League campaign had its ups and downs, however, they came in strongly during the Spring Cup to win the Flight 3 of the Boys 9 division.

During the first weekend of the Spring Cup, the Blades BU9 team had an easy time, beating their opponents Claremont Stars and M B Surf and Sands Red by 9-0 and 8-1 respectively. The games during the second week got postponed, which put the talented team of young boys with the prospect of playing 4 tough games in one weekend...Read More
