GU15 Won Slammers Futbol Classic Championship
It was a great start for the GU15 team when the Silver Elite team won their first tournament of the year at the Slammers Futbol Classic. The Blades girls beat Legends Black 2-1 in the finals to take the Championship. In pool play, they tied Xtreme Revoluation 1-1, and defeated Select Cities Avalanches 3-0. In the semi-finals match, they edged out FC Barcelona in PK after a 1-1 draw in reg time.
BU10 Red Win at Wolfpack Invitational
FC Blades BU10 Red team took home the title at the Wolfpack Invitational with a 3-2 victory over the Fullerton Rangers. The tournament run included victories over Real Madrid 1-0, HB Xtreme 6-0 and a 3-3 draw against United FC Black. See full story here.
BU14 Won Arsenal FC Summer Classic Champions
Coach Alex Filipovic's BU14 team won the 2010 Arsenal FC Summer Classic. In the qualifying round they won their games against Arsenal and Nott's Forest FC 3-0 and 4-0, respectively. In the semi-final game they matched up against Chivas Jr, a first place Bronze team with an undefeated season. See full story here.
GU9 (U10 Fall) Accepted to Prestigious Surf Cup
The FC Blades GU9 (U10 Fall 2010) became the second team in club history to be accepted into the prestigious San Diego Surf Cup 2010. The tournament which hosts the top teams from around the country is regarded as one of the elite tournaments in the US. This years tournament will take place July 24,25 and 26 and will feature league champions, state champions and league cup champions from all across the US soccer map. The Blades GU9 girls team will embark on new territory following on from their outstanding 2009 season where across 70 games the girls won 5 tournament championships, a CSL league championship and reached the 'elite 8' of league cup.
Head Coach and Girls Youth Director Andy Winn said, " I am so happy for the girls. This is recognition for all the hard work they have put in over the last 2 years. This really is a wonderful achievement for everyone involved and shows the direction that FC Blades is heading.
Club President Jay Crawford also rang the praises for the girls "What an honor and a great testament to how well the team is doing. As you know, it is by invitation only and they only take the best of the best. I would guess that less than 2% of all club players ever get to play in it. Hopefully, this team will continue to build together and reach even higher heights. Nice job." Jay S. Crawford, President, F.C. Blades.
GU14 (U15 Fall) Won 1st and 2nd in Soccer in the Sand Tourney
GU14 (U15 Fall 2010) team divided into 2 sub-teams and conquered both 1st and 2nd places in the Soccer in the Sand tournament in San Diego this past weekend. After undefeated pool games, both sub-teams met in the 'all Blades' finals and produced a fun and yet competitive finals. Along with the Blades GU11 and GU12 teams, the players and families also celebrated club director Tim Woodcock's birthday with a pizza party on the beach.
GU12 Win Eclipse Winter Cup Champions
Blades GU12 team won the Eclipse Winter Cup Champions with wins over La Costa Matrix, Newport Mesa SC, LAFC Black and Olympia. In their first game, FC Blades shut out La Costa Matrix 6-0. The first goal came early in the game when Kaylea Forquor took advantage of a free ball in front of the goal. Rhea Palsule followed this goal with a run through the defense and a strong shot of goal that rebounded off the goal to Chinyere Chambers, who sealed the deal. See the full story here.
BU12 Won OC Tournament of Champions Title
George Deverrick's FC Blades BU-12 team defended their home turf by taking home the FC Blades-hosted OC Tournament of Champions Flight 2 title in Irvine this weekend. This was team’s third consecutive tournament victory and fourth straight tournament final.

Ben Martin of BU12 Selected to Young Olympians Program
Ben Martin, defender on the BU12 (soon to be BU13) Silver team was recently selected by Cal South coaches to attend the Young Olympians Program (YOP) for two weekends of top-level, intense training. The YOP, which began in 2007, is designed to introduce both players and parents to the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP), which starts at the U13 age group. Read full story here.
FC Blades Wins THREE Cal Cup Championships in 2010
It's been a great showing for FC Blades in Cal Cup this year. It all started on Feb 28th with GU9, coached by Andy Winn, beat Pateadores 6-2 to clinch the first of 3 Championship trophies. Next it was GU11, coached by Tim Woodcock. They beat South Coast Bayern 4-3 in extra time, to secure their win. Last Sunday, April 18th. FC Blades GU16, coacehd by Dave Brown, made it a 'Hat trick' on Cal Cup wins when they beat Juventus 3-1 ad make 2010 a memorable year for FC Blades. Read the match reports here.
GU11 Won Notts Forest Championship
FC Blades GU11 team, playing their second tournament as a silver team, won the Notts Forest Cup, on Labor Day weekend, for the second year in a row! The team advanced to the Finals without a loss in pool play against Fram CQ, San Diego Surf, FC San Diego and Arsenal. The final, featured a rematch with Fram CQ, was surely a nail biter. BU9 Finish the Summer with 3rd Championship!
The FC Blades BU-9 team coached by Ben Forey was back in action this past weekend as they participated in the Bayern Junior Cup. The boys were looking to finish off the summer with a bang, and that they did, winning their third tournament of the summer. Congratulations to all the boys on a great summer and good luck in CSL. GU16 Kick Off Season with OC Kickoff Championship
Blades GU16 team kick off their season with a big win at the OC Kickoff Classic with an undefeated record. The team got off to a slow start but as the day went on, the team fought harder and harder. Read the full story here.
GU10 Wins OC Kickoff Classic Championship
FC Blades GU-10 team defeated Beach FC White 5-4 on penalty kicks to win the Orange County Kickoff Classic in Irvine and capture their third tournament title of the summer. In four tournament games, Goalkeeper and Tournament MVP, Patricia Block, sweeper Kelly Cottone and defenders Madison Benjamin, Jasmine Hollins, Asuka Nagasawa and Victoria Woolfolk tallied three shutouts and allowed just one goal.
