The game opener proved to be a tough defensive match. Blades score came before the half when Emilio San Ramon took the indirect kick above the 18 that David Rundle trapped and powered the ball to the waiting arms of the defense keeper who could not control the ball. Jarreth Santos followed through and picked up the loose ball to score the goal. Defensive recognition goes to Michael Pierotti (Keeper), Kevin Teague, Max Premer, Niklas Bjurman, Evan Dahl, and Dakshin Jandhyala. Strong offensive passing and control by John Belz, Gavin Heim, Daniel Munoz and Jake Suiste.

Strong offensive pressure from both teams and the excitement had everyone encouraging there players to push hard. La Mesa Matrix Invaders scored the first of three goals in the first half. Daniel Munoz answered back from a chip pass from David Rundle to start the scoring. Later Jarreth Santos scored off a corner kick from David Rundle to keep the score 2-1 at the end of the half. John Belz had 2 hat tricks. On each attempt he had pressure from the defensive line and also drew out the keeper. David Rundle capped off the game with a strong line shot through the keeper’s hands. Gavin Heim, Emilio San Ramon, Max Premer and Niklas Bjurman displayed team work by pushing the ball up the field.

A game to remember had both teams on edge. In the early minutes of the first half Jarreth Santos scored of a header from a corner kick by David Rundle. OC Kings answered back before the end of the half keeping the score tied. Strong defensive pressure held both team scoreless to the final minutes. OC Kings were awarded an indirect kick that ended with the winning point. Great efforts from Kevin Teague, who controlled the defensive line, Michael Pierott, Gavin Heim, Niklas Bjurman, Evan Dahl, Jake Suiste, and Dakshin Jandhyala. Offensive pressure and great passing from John Belz, Emilio San Ramon, Gavin Heim, and Daniel Munoz.
