F.C.Blades. A New Approach

F.C. Blades Soccer Club is a new non-profit organization that provides competitive soccer opportunities for Orange County youth. The name F.C. Blades reflects the deep roots of English soccer tradition. "Many of our talented coaches played and coached in the United Kingdom during their careers," said Tim Woodcock, Director of Player Development. "The new name draws on the deep roots of soccer in the land of its invention, England. Sheffield United is one of the original English soccer clubs founded in 1889. Based in the heart of England in the steel town of Sheffield, which is renowned for its fine cutlery, Sheffield United adopted the nickname 'The Blades.' They are a team on the rise and are poised to take center stage in the English Premiership next season, and we felt an affinity with them, due to our growth, development and desire to also climb to the next level," said Woodcock.

The mission of FC BLADES is to enhance each player's enjoyment of the game while promoting understanding, skill, appreciation and knowledge. FC BLADES emphasizes the development of advanced individual skills and introduces players to team tactics as their skill levels increase. Our coaches strive for the development of the individual, while teaching sportsmanship and team effort. The FC BLADES philosophy goes beyond the white lines of a soccer field. We recognize the link between team sports and life in general - promoting hard work, commitment, education and dedication. We educate our youth about the need to be a fair and honest player, about the game of soccer and about good sportsmanship. At the base of our program is education - not just in the skills and techniques of the game, but also the thrill and excitement of the game.

Are we competitive? Yes. Always.
Do we set high standards? Always.
Do we try to Win? Always.
Are we willing to sacrifice PLAYER DEVELOPMENT in order to win? No.

We operate in a fun yet disciplined environment, where children understand when it is time for work and when it is time for fun. We build confidence and self esteem and we recognize the need for children to have the respect of their peers. Because our head coaches are both former professional players and credentialed teachers, they understand how children learn. FC BLADES is not just another soccer program. We focus on;

‘Individual Development, Team Success’
